Program/Curriculum Development

 Cheryl

I joined the faculty at Herbert H. Lehman College, CUNY, when the first class was in its sophomore year. As a specialist in public/community health nursing, I developed and taught courses in epidemiology and community organization for health as well as providing leadership for the integration of related concepts across the curriculum. As member of the graduate in community health nursing at the University of Michigan I developed and taught courses in the minor in education, including curriculum development and taught didactic and practicum in Human Services, and the Doctor of Nursing Practice degree. With a colleague from Creighton University, I envisioned and supported the establishment of a distance delivered program through with CU has brought its doctoral-entry level program in occupational therapy to Alaska in collaboration with the University of Alaska Anchorage. It is the first and only occupational therapy program in the state as well as the first such program in nation.

Carol

I have been involved in program and curriculum development in every teaching appointment I have held, at the levels of practical, associate degree, baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral education. With preparation at the graduate level in nursing education, I have developed and taught the graduate didactic and practicum courses in nursing education, which included program and curriculum development, at three universities. In my specialty area, community health nursing, I have developed and taught courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. At the Catholic University of America, I developed courses for the summer doctoral program. I led the faculty at Oakwood University to develop a baccalaureate program in nursing to replace the existing associate degree program. The new baccalaureate program usually boasts a first-time NCLEX-RN pass rate of 100%. With an appreciation of the lack of preparation of new nursing faculty in most cases, I developed and taught a weekly course for new faculty in curriculum and teaching at Oakwood University for the last three years of my appointment there.
